CLO Lauds 8 Anambra Labour Party State Lawmakers For Donating Their 6 Months Salaries As Palliatives To Constituents

The Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) Anambra State chapter has commended the eight members of the State House of Assembly on the platform of Labour Party for their patriotism, selflessness and compassion for donating their six months salary to their respective constituencies as palliatives as a result of the economic hardship.

The donation was in view of current hardship and hyperinflation in country due to subsidy removal, currency devaluation and astrological high cost of living, goods and services.

The CLO said in a statement on Saturday that the donation by the eight LP Anambra lawmakers “are indeed in tune with excruciating sufferings ,hunger, anger, abject poverty in the midst of plenty, unemployment and insecurity ubiquitous in the country.

“This is a clear indication that they bears the interest and welfare of their respective constituencies at heart.
They have engraved and etched their names in the hearts and minds of Nigerians through their patriotic and humanitarian dispositions.

“It is noteworthy that Hon.Fred Ezenwa and Hon.Barr. Jude Umennajiego last month fumigated Fegge and Odoakpu to curtail the menace of mosquito bites and malaria in the communities.

“Similarly, the only good motives in politics is the motives of doing good for ones country and her citizens which is in tandem with wise decision of the legislators for putting smiles on the faces of their constituencies.

“We call on other legislators and political class to emulates them. It is of prime importance to ensure transparent disbursement of the funds to the most vulnerable citizens irrespective of party affiliations.”

The CLO had earlier commended Senators Victor Umeh, Dr.Tony Nwoye, Professor.Lilian Orogbo of Awka North and South and Chief Mrs Maureen Gwacham of Oyi/Ayamelum Federal constituencies “for providing homongous palliatives for their various senatorial zones and constituencies.

“We appeal to other Federal Legislators yet to disburse palliatives from Federal Government to do the needful to help ameliorates the sufferings of the masses.”
