Suspected Ritualists Murder, Remove Body Parts Of 3-year-old Girl in Bauchi State

  • Body parts intact, decomposing, Police claims

By Yemi Monday

Suspected ritualists late Thursday evening murdered and removed some body parts of  a three-year-old girl in Ningi Local Government Area (LGA) of Bauchi State.

Bauchi State Police Command has however denied the report that her body parts were severed, explaining that the body only decomposed having been dumped for days.

The mutilated body of the three-year-old girl was discovered without the two eyes removed as well as the vagina within Ningi township, days after she was declared missing by her parents.

Reports gathered revealed that the three-year-old girl, Asiya Zakari Ya’u, had been missing for two days before her mutilated body was found dumped along a path in Ningi.

Her parents are residents of Sabuwar Denawa within Ningi township, but got the news of the dead body of the girl through some Almajiri boys who are in a Qur’anic School in the area.

The matter was said to be reported to the Police authorities in Ningi who immediately went to the scene, evacuated the mutilated body of Asiya to the General Hospital, Ningi for medical examination and confirmation of her death as was done by a Medical Doctor.

As of the time of filling this report on Saturday, no arrest has been made while efforts are on to trace the culprits in order to bring them to book.

Meanwhile, the mutilated body of Asiya has been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.

In a reaction to the development, Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the brutal killing of the three-year-old girl in Ningi LGA of Bauchi State by suspected ritual purposes.

The confirmation was made by the Command PPRO, SP Ahmed Wakili in a telephone conversation with our Correspondent on Saturday.

According to him, the Police in Ningi received a report from one Malam Saleh of a lifeless body of small girl around the graveyard in Ningi adding that the DPO led his Men to the scene and evacuated the body to Ningi General Hospital.

The PPRO added that a Medical Doctor at the hospital confirmed the death of the girl after which the body was released to the parents while result of the postmortem is being awaited to determine the exact cause of death.

He however denied removal of any of her body parts saying, “medical reports has it that her body parts are intact. But because the body has started decomposing, some of the parts too must have decomposed.”

Wakili Ahmed added that the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed has directed for thorough investigation of the issue in order to arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act and bring them to justice.

He added that the development is a pathetic one coming in the holy month of Ramadan when Muslims are engaged in fasting for mercy of Allah but a few bad eggs are using it for committing crime.
