Nigerians Criticising Me Are ‘Stupid’ – APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru has reacted to scores of reactions from Nigerians that greeted his comment against the former Vice President and the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 Presidential Election, Atiku Abubakar.

Atiku had decried as unusual the absence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his deputy, Kashim Shettima, from the country at the same time, especially now that the nation is faced with daunting challenges.

Atiku said he has been inundated by reports of the absence of the President and Vice President from the country. In a post on his X handle on Monday, Atiku said one might be right to assume that the country is on autopilot.

Speaking on Atiku’s statement via his X handle, Senator Basiru said, “I don’t believe that Abubakar could be so ignorant of working of government.

” I don’t believe a former Vice president, Atiku Abubakar, could be so ignorant of working of government or is it electoral loss bitterness that is at work?”

The response generated lots of mixed reactions from Nigerians who took to their X handle to blast the APC scribe over his ‘Ignorant’ comment usage against Atiku.

Several commentators lambasted Basiru for his “classless” and “uncouth” behavior, with one user describing him as “inexperienced, deceptive, and irresponsibly servile.”

Others blamed the system that allowed him to rise to power, with one user stating that “in a country where citizens are largely reasonable and understand the pros and cons of governance, someone like you can never be a council leader.”

Basiru’s comments were also mocked for the poor grammar and sentence structure, with one user joking that “even with your plenty degrees, the sentence no flow… na wao Oga PhD.”

Many did not also leave a comment on the post without pointing out Basiru’s own political failures, with one user noting that he “failed to win a senatorial seat a second time” and is now “gaslighting a long-time vice president who is still much relevant in today’s polity.” Others have mocked his appointment to a political position despite his electoral defeat, with one user joking that “this one dey fine appointment after losing election in small Osun.”

Basiru’s Reaction

Reacting to Osun Defender’s report on the reactions of Nigerians to his tweet, Ajibola described the Nigerians criticism of him as “Stupid.”

Basiru, in his comment on a WhatsApp group called “EagleEyesNews.ng” where he reacted to Osun Defender’s report, wrote: “Stupid Nigerians like the writer and owner of the useless medium called Osun Defender.”
