AANI Congratulates DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd) On Appointment As Chairman Police Service Commission

National President of the Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI), Ambassador Emmanuel Obi Okafor, has congratulated one of its “distinguished members,” Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), “on his well-merited appointment” as Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Argungu is a member of Senior Executive Course (SEC) 32, 2010 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, near Jos Plateau State.

In a statement by the National Publicity Secretary of AANI, Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman (rtd), the alumni said that “the appointment of DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (retired), mni NPM psc, as Chairman of the PSC, is undoubtedly a testament to his outstanding contributions to national development, peace, and security, as well as his unwavering dedication to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), both during his service years and in retirement. For example, his tenure as Chairman of the Nigeria Police Force Microfinance Bank PLC is further evidence of his relentless commitment to the betterment of the force and the nation at large.

“Similarly, his illustrious career in the NPF, spanning over three decades, has been marked by exemplary leadership in various capacities, including the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in the Department of Training and Development, Assistant Inspector-General of Police at Zone 5 Command Headquarters Benin, Commissioner of Police in Jigawa State, Ogun State, and Airport Command Ikeja, Lagos, and Deputy Commissioner of Police for Legal and Prosecution Services at FCID FHQ Abuja. His sterling efforts as Head of the Investigation Department at the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) while on secondment from the NPF, showcases his versatile expertise and commitment to justice and abhorrence for corrupt practices in Nigeria.

“Academically distinguished, DIG Argungu (retired), mni NPM psc, holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.), Barrister of Laws (B.L.), Bachelor of Law (LL.B.), Bachelor of Arts Education (B.A.ED.), Nigerian Certificate in Education (N.C.E.), and Grade II Teachers’ Certificate. His participation in numerous professional courses, including Policy and Strategic Studies at our alma mater NIPSS, Kuru, and international training in banking law enforcement and public corruption, clearly shows his preparedness for this significant role.

“Indeed, the appointments of various AANI members into strategic positions in this government are a testament to the confidence of the government in AANI members’ competencies. Therefore, AANI expresses its profound gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his recognition of the exceptional talents within our ranks and for his commitment to appointing AANI members to key positions in his administration. This belief in our members’ capabilities reflects the rigorous training and strategic insights imparted by the highest policy and strategic training institute in the country, NIPSS, Kuru.
