When You’re Done Prancing, You’ll Fall Like Candy In A Child’s Hand, El-Rufai Tells Governor Uba Sani

Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has told his supporters that he is unperturbed by the ongoing investigation into his administration by the State House of Assembly, saying he is in great doubt if any success will come out of it.

El-Rufai, who spoke while celebrating Sallah with his associates in Kaduna State, counselled them to avoid any verbal confrontation with Governor Uba Sani or any of his aides, predicting that the Governor’s behavior would ultimately lead to his downfall.

He likened what is going on to a fragile candy that would eventually crumble and fall apart, Daily Nigerian reports.

“Support the Governor and his cabinet members with prayers for them to do the right thing. Don’t feel hurt with what’s going on. When he is done prancing, he will fall off like candy [in a kid’s hand],” he said.

In March, Governor Sani lamented the huge debt inherited from his predecessor, El-Rufai, on May 29, 2023, saying that Kaduna State was now left with funds not enough to pay salary because of the State’s huge loan portfolio.

Recently, the Kaduna State House of Assembly asked Governor Uba to stop repaying all the loans collected by the previous government of El-Rufai, found to have been done without due process.

According to the recommendations by an ad hoc committee set up by the House of Assembly headed by Henry Zacharia, “All Loans (Domestic and Foreign) obtained by the Kaduna State Government between 29th May, 2015 to 29th May, 2023 and found by the Committee to have been obtained without due process are not binding on the State and the State Government should henceforth stop honouring all. Limit obligations arising from them.”
