Bandits Kill 5 Soldiers, Wound 1, 2 Missing In Ambush After Kaduna Toll Gate Along Kaduna-Abuja Expressway

Bandits have shot dead five soldiers in an ambush in Audu-Jangwan village near Alheri Camp in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State.

Specifically, the ambush, which also left one soldier wounded and two Missing in Action (MIA) took place last Tuesday July 2, 2024 at the Alheri Camp after the toll gate along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

A source who confirmed the incident told Global Upfront Newspapers (GUN) that “yes, a group of bandits numbering over 200 reportedly ambushed the troops who were of Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP). The troops were on patrol where they were providing security for the construction of parafet along the Eastern axis of Kaduna-Abuja close to Alheri Camp.”

Another source hinted that “our prayers are that this would not be a resurfacing of bandits’ attacks along the Kaduna-Abuja highway. But it is advisable that Nigerians should be careful and take precautions by avoiding early morning travels on the expressway until the major highway is sanitized.”

Also, a community leader in the area added: “The Alheri Camp is just a few metres from Audu-Jangwan village. It is one of the soldiers’ camps located along the Abuja-Kaduna highway. It was there the bandits came from the bush and laid ambush, killing five soldiers, and also burnt down their truck.”
