Gruesome: How Gunmen Killed 8 Elders, Roast Some in Okwe, Imo State 

Details have merged on how gunmen on Saturday invaded the venue of the meeting of leaders of the community in Okwe, Onuimo Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State, shooting eight to death.

The gunmen then went ahead and set three of the eight ablaze, after the killing. 

Among the eight was the President General of Umucheke Okwe Autonomous Community, Chief Hyginus Ohazurike.

A source confirmed that the killings took place at the President General’s shop where the leaders were meeting.

According to the source, the gunmen who stormed the area in a vehicle, shot the seven persons in the meeting and set the place ablaze.

Already, the community has been enveloped into mourning following the incident.

Imo State Police Spokesperson, Henry Okoye, who also confirmed the incident, said the command is already investigating the matter and promised to bring the culprits to face the law.

“This is very unfortunate. The Command is saddened by this tragic incident. Investigation is ongoing to unravel the miscreants responsible for this dastardly act and make them face the full wrath of the law,” he stated.
