“No Excuses, Absolutely No Excuses,” End Terrorism, Banditry, Killings, General TY Danjuma Charges CDS

  • “We must end the banditry and the killings that are going on in our country as soon as possible” Danjuma

Former Minister of Defence (1999-2003), Lieutenant General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd), on Tuesday charged the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, to lead the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) in ending terrorism, banditry, killings and other forms of insecurity “as soon as possible.”

General Danjuma, who was also the former Chief of Army Staff (COAS) – 1975-1979, spoke in Abuja during the presentation of a book titled ‘Big Boots: Lessons From My Military Service,’ authored by his former Aide-De-Camp (ADC) as Minister, Major General Solomon Udounwa (rtd), told serving and retired military top brass including General Musa that the onus rests on serving officers to end the menace of insecurity and senseless killings by marauders all over the country.

According to Danjuma: “We must end the banditry and the killings that are going on in our country as soon as possible.

“The responsibilities are on your shoulders those of you who are still servicing. No excuses, absolutely no excuses. God bless you. God bless our country.”

In response, General Musa said the Armed Forces of Nigeria won’t be deterred by the challenges confronting them in the fight against banditry and terrorism, assuring General Danjuma that the military won’t fail but is poised to bring the blood-sucking mongers called bandits to their knees.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria is willing, dedicated and committed to ensuring that we restore peace and security in our own dear country.

“We shall not be deterred. I want to assure you that we have learnt so much from your records. We cannot afford to fail and we will not fail,” Musa told General Danjuma.
