Former Deputy Governors Hold Forum In Abuja On Good Governance, Food Security

Nigeria’s former Deputy Governors will hold their annual conference that will dwell on best practices and develop actionable strategies to enhance governance, ensure food security as well as stimulate sustainable growth in the country.

National Chairman of Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria and former Deputy Governor of Abịa State, Comrade Chris Akomas, said that the meeting, which holds this week, will also host delegates from the Chambers of Commerce of Exporters and Importers of Poland who are partners of the forum for the establishment of Polish Nigeria Business Council (PNBC).

According to a statement by the Media Adviser to Comrade Akomas, Comrade Chidi Asonye, the Chambers of Commerce of Exporters and Importers of Poland will also stage a mini exhibition of Polish products.

The statement by Asonye said: “As the country battles the challenges that has hindered it’s socio-econmonic growth, including that of governance, insecurity, unstable exchange rate, corruption among others that demand a lasting panacea, Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria appears ready to make its own input for the way forward, during its 2024 conference that will hold in Abuja, later in the coming week.

“The conference with theme: Strategic Solutions for Good Governance, food security and Sustainable growth in Nigeria, aims to foster dialogue, share best practices and develop actionable strategies to enhance governance, ensure food security as well as stimulate sustainable growth in the country.

“National Chairman of the forum and former deputy Governor of Abịa State, Comrade Chris Akomas, will be the convener, while Mukhtar Shehu Shagari and Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi are deputy converners.

“According to the forum, the primary objectives of this year’s conference are to facilitate discussions on effective governance and leadership practices, address the realities and aspirations of the Nigerian people, explore innovative solutions to food security challenges.

“Other objectives include developing policies and strategies for economic stability and sustainable growth, as well as encourage collaboration between current leaders and their predecessors.

“The 2024 National Conference will also host delegates from the Chambers of Commerce of Exporters and Importers of Poland, who are partners of the forum for the establishment of Polish Nigeria Business Council PNBC, even as they will stage a mini exhibition of Polish products.”
