Nigeria’s COVID-19 figure jumps to 33,616 with 463 new cases, as NCDC insists on culture of wearing face masks

Nigeria recorded 33,616 confirmed Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases with 463 new infections on Sunday, just as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) advised every citizen to imbibe the culture of always wearing a mask before leaving their homes.

The NCDC said via its official twitter handle 10 deaths recorded in the country on Sunday.

The health agency noted that out of 33,616 confirmed cases, 13,792 were treated and discharged while 754 deaths were recorded across the 36 States of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

It also stated that the 463 new cases were reported from 17 States with Lagos State topping with 128, 92 in Kwara and 39 in Enugu.

Ohers States with cases were Delta (33), Edo (29), Plateau (28), Kaduna (23), Oyo (15), Ogun (14), Osun (14), FCT (12), Ondo (9), Rivers (9), Abia (8), Bayelsa (5), Ekiti (3) and Borno (2).

NCDC said Nigerians must imbibe the culture of always wearing face masks before leaving their homes as appropriate wearing of face masks could help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The agency reminded Nigerians that wearing face shield only could  not protect from COVID-19, insisting that it must always be worn with a mask.
