Community Vigilantes Arrests Vandals Destroying Ikot Ekpene-Ugwuaji 330kV DC Power Line – TCN

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) on Tuesday morning announced the arrest of three men while they were vandalising its Ikot Ekpene-Ugwuaji 330kV Double Circuit Line in Enugu State.

The TCN said in a statement that the arrests was made possible by the vigilance of community security operatives and local hunters.

The statement noted that the vandals were caught in the act as they attempt to cart away nuts, bolts, and angle iron for tower bracing they had removed from the TCN towers.

The full statement reads: “On February 21, 2025, at around 11:00 am, three men were apprehended while vandalising the Ikot Ekpene-Ugwuaji 330kV Double Circuit Line of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in Enugu State. Their arrest was made possible by the vigilance of community security operatives and local hunters.

“The culprits were caught in the act, and their attempt to cart away with nuts, bolts, and angle iron for tower bracing they had removed from the towers was thwarted.

“The vandals, along with the stolen materials, have been handed over to the police and have been charged to court accordingly.

“TCN Management expresses gratitude to the community for their vigilance and continued support in combating the vandalism of transmission infrastructure.”
