Igbo exclusion from governance, reason for secessionist movements – Biafran President, Chief Chukwu

President of Biafra Internal government (BIG) and Chairman of Biafran Elders – In – Council, Chief Solomon Ordu Chukwu on Wednesday blamed the prolonged exclusion of Igbo –Christians from occupying as the reason for the secessionist agitation in the south east of Nigeria.

According to him, it was the marginalization of Igbos in Nigeria since after the Nigerian Civil war ended in 1970, and the killings of Igbos that gave rise for the agitation for New Biafra in late September 1999 by Chief Ralph Uwazuruike’s Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB).

Biafra’s Director of Information, Elder Chris Mocha who spoke on behalf of Chief Chukwu in a signed statement  said it was the exclusion, killings and hatred of the Igbo by other tribes in Nigeria was real reasons for the formation of MASSOB and which later gave birth to other Factional separatists groups.

Promising that in Biafra, that all the citizens will be treated equally and feel free to belong to the New Nation according to the law.

He claimed that Biafra has been acknowledged by the United Nations and praised the Body for admitting Biafra as the 46th Member- Nations of Unrepresented Nations & Peoples Organization (UNPO).

Chief Chukwu recalled that before the formation of MASSOB and now Biafra Internal Government (BIG), Igbo sons and daughters were never considered fit or trusted to hold any sensitive positions of authority in Nigeria by successive administrations from January 12, 1970 till 1999 before Chief Ralph Uwazuruike floated  the separatist movement, MASSOB.

Chukwu said there would not be any need for agitation for Biafra if there was protection of life and property of Igbo Christians in Nigeria, insisting that since the end of civil war, there had been  a coven of conspiracy  and the total exclusion of Igbo-Christians from positions of authority, influence and sensitivity, just as he promised to change the status quo in Biafra.

He boasted that Biafra Internal government (BIG) which is a prelude to gaining a sovereign, Independent status for New Biafra State, considers all the eligeble Biafran citizens the inalienable right to vote and be voted for during elections without discrimination .
