As darkness fell on the two venues, armed personnel arrived Lekki Toll Gate, shooting sporadically.

The protesters were shooting the scenes with sporadic shots ringing in the air as they shouted for help.

One of the protesters shouted on the trending video: “This is what we see in Nigeria. They are using fire. This is Lekki Toll Gate. Soldiers have been sent here. Soldiers are shooting everywhere. Protesters are still on the ground.”

Another posted: “Shootings at Lekki Toll Gate and Alausa! RT for the whole world to see that we demanded for accountability & an end to police brutality. But the government is replying back with force. Is this still democracy or a sham of a nation?”

Another said: “They are shooting at the protesters right now. They are in total darkness. They turned off the stream. Protesters are in darkness and they are shooting and somebody has been killed. They are shooting and attack everybody.”
