In a “daring rescue operation”, soldiers of the Operation Whirl Stroke on Thursday successfully rescued 3 kidnapped persons in Nasarawa state.
This was contained in a statement signed by Major-General John Enenche, Cordinator of Defence Media Operations (Defence Headquarters) and released on Friday in Abuja.
According to General Enenche, “following actionable and credible intelligence, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE, in the early hours of yesterday, 7 January 2021, successfully staged a daring rescue operation at Mararaba Udege general area in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, rescuing 3 kidnapped persons and neutralizing one armed bandit in the ensuing firefight.”
The kidnapped persons according to him, were subsequently reunited with their respective families.
General Enenche in the statement assured that “the Armed Forces of Nigeria will not relent until all enemies of the Country are neutralised and normalcy is restored to all troubled zones” of the country.
It would be recalled that General Enenche while briefing reporters on Thursday announced that Military rescued 10 kidnap victims in the first 6 days of this year in the northwest zone insisting it still dominates the zone in the fight against bandits and kidnappers.
He also said the military have put the bandits on the run and that between January 1st and 6th, 2021, soldiers have also arrested 2 of the bandits and neutralized 5 others in the same northwest zone alone adding that 2 AK 47 rifles, 2 magazines and 18 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition were recovered from the bandits by the military in the zone in the same period.
