Buhari decorates new CDS, Service Chiefs, with new ranks

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday decorated the new Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs with their ranks.

Those decorated with the new ranks include Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor; Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Ishiaka Oladayo Amoo.

The CDS and Service were appointed on January 25, 2021 and were confirmed by both Chambers of the National Assembly on Tuesday.

The decoration ceremony, held inside Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, was witnessed by Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha; Minister of Defense, Major General Bashir Magashi (rtd) and the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari.
