Bandits kill 12 in Sokoto State, block Sokoto-Gusau highway for hours, abduct travellers

Bandits continued its violence in Northwest Nigeria, killing 12 persons at Maikujera in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

But the Spokesperson of the Sokoto State Police Command, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, said the killing occurred on Thursday around 4:30 pm.

Confirming that 12 persons were killed by the bandits, the Police Spokesperson added that nobody was abducted in the attacks.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, another set of bandits blocked Sokoto-Gusau highway and operated for about two hours.

The Sokoto-Gusau highway links the capital city of Sokoto with Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State.

Sources said the bandits blocked the road between Bimasa and Lambar Bakura and abducted an unspecified number of travellers.

And because of the bandits’ activities, “many of travellers had to stop at Bimasa until the bandits left,” said the source.
