Nigeria: Plateau State boils again with nine villagers killed in fresh attack in Te’egbe, Bassa LGA

The fragile peace in Plateau State boiled over into an orgy of violence as at least nine persons have been killed and many injured as bandits attacked Te’egbe village, Bassa Local Government Area (LGA) of the State.

Many houses were also burnt in the attack which took place when the bandits invaded the village around 1am today (Friday).

The attack on Te’egbe came barely two days after two farmers were ambushed and killed in Ancha village of Miango District of Irigwe Chiefdom, in the same Bassa LGA.

The Spokesperson of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Davidson Malison, has confirmed invasion, killings and destructions.

Meanwhile, Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong, in a statement by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Makut Simon Machan, condemned the attack, calling on security agencies “to fish out the perpetrators of the act.

Lalong, while commiserating with the victims and families of those killed, assured that they would get justice as Government would stop at nothing to unravel those behind the ugly incident that continue to disrupt the livelihoods of the people of the Local Government.

Lalong also directed the Plateau State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Peace Building Agency (PBA) to immediately visit the area and assess the level of damage with a view to carrying out immediate intervention and bringing succor to those in need as a result of the barbaric attack.

He also called on the people to assist the security agencies with relevant information that will enable them crack the identity and motives of the attacks.
