The bandits who abducted the immediate past Councilor of Gurdi Ward in Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, Mohammed Ibrahim Tanko, on Sunday has regained his freedom.
But they released him and gave him a motorcycle to go and source N8 million for them before they release others abducted with him.
The bandits, who have been subjecting residents of rural areas of Abuja to unprecedented violence and kidnapping had on Sunday invaded Tekpeshe community, killed one person and abducted 18 others, including the ex-Councillor.
A resident of Tekpeshe, Yakubu Ibrahim, confirmed that the bandits released four other victims alongside the former Councillor on Monday evening.
According to Ibrahim: “Yes, our former Councillor and four others were released on Monday evening. They gave him a motorcycle to go and raise N8m, including foodstuff, and bring to them before other captives will be set free.”
He further said the former Councillor had started consulting with the families of the victims still in captivity on how to raise the money.
The Spokesperson of the FCT Police Command, DSP Adeh Josephine, was yet to reply an SMS on the development.
