Alleged IPOB/ESN Gunmen Hijack Civil Defence’s Armoured Personnel Carrier Along Akokwa-Orlu Road, Imo State

Gunmen alleged to be members of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and their armed wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN) on Wednesday morning hijacked an Armoured Personnel Carier (APC) belonging to the Nigerian Security Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) along the Akokwa-Orlu road, Orlu senatorial zone of Imo State.

An APC is an all-terrain vehicle designed to protect and transport its crew and personnel.

Sources confirmed to Global Upfront Newspapers (GUN) that the gunmen attacked the Civil Defence APC has been taken to an unknown destination.

According to the source, “yes, these criminal elements suspected to be IPOB/ESN members attacked the Civil  Defence along  Akokwa-Orlu road and hijacked their  APC vehicle.

“They then headed to an unknown destination.”

The source noted that officers and men on the road have been asked to be “extraordinarily careful. This is because the APC is painted in Civil Defence colours.”

As the time of this report, the whereabouts of the vehicle is still not known. And neither officials of the NSCDC nor the Police are willing to speak on the embarrassing situation.
