The Movement for the Actualisation of of Sovereign State of Biafra/Biafra Independence Movement (MASSOB/BIM) has lauded the Anambra State Police Command for the “early release” of their detained members in the State.
Mazi Chris Mocha Anierobi, Director of information of MASSOB/BIM said in a statement made available on Sunday that “efforts of the Anambra Police have been lauded by the leadership of Biafra Independence Movement, BIM and Movement for Actualization of Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, for what the group described as understanding the different methods between us and other Pro-Biafra agitating groups.
“This is even as the group’s Spokesperson repeatedly assured the public that in its quest for Biafran independence, no gunshot will be fired.
“Briefing Journalists on Saturday, Mazi Chris Mocha Anierobi, Director of information, appreciated efforts of the Police in Anambra, said: “Police personnel in the State had for the first time shown and demonstrated a high level of professionalism in the manner with which they handled the case of its non-violent members.
“The Force, Mocha stated that though arrest, detention, and sometimes death is the beauty and sweetness of any struggle for independence, the agitation for Biafra will come to an end only if the United Nations recognize Biafra’s Sovereignty.
“The statement urged other Police Commands particularly Imo, Enugu, Ebonyi and Abia States where some of Uwazuruike led BIM-MASSOB members are still being held for alleged membership of Indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, to do the needful by releasing them.
BIM-MASSOB had last week accused the Police in South East states of indiscriminate arrests and extortion of its members particularly in Enugu, Ebonyi, and Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Aside the Police, MASSOB equally commended the Media houses and its Lead Counsel for Anambra , Dr. Destiny Nnagbo who secured their release, a clear demonstration that our members have carried out their agitation for Biafra in a most civilized manner without hiding or hurting any people.
“The early Police release of the members of BIM- MASSOB from custody in Anambra has made a difference between us and other Pro-Biafra groups’, Mocha added.
“Mocha insisted that their members are peaceful members of a harmless organization, promising that, “In our genuine quest to actualize a Sovereign State of Biafra, no single gunshot will be fired.”
