Attempted Coup: ECOWAS Condemns “Disturbances” Against “Constitutional Order” In Sierra Leone

  • With Freetown prison break confirmed by the authorities  

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on Sunday condemned “with utter disgust a plot by certain individuals to acquire arms and disturb the peace and constitutional order in Sierra Leone.”

Calling for “the arrest and prosecution of all participants in this illegal act,” ECOWAS reiterates its “zero-tolerance for unconstitutional change of Government.”

According to the statement by ECOWAS secretariat: “The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has learnt with utter disgust a plot by certain individuals to acquire arms and disturb the peace and constitutional order in Sierra Leone.

“ECOWAS condemns this act and calls for the arrest and prosecution of all participants in this illegal act. ECOWAS reiterates its zero-tolerance for unconstitutional change of Government.

:ECOWAS further underscores its commitment to supporting the government and people of Sierra Leone to deepen democracy and good governance, consolidate peace and security as well as foster socio-economic development.

This is just as footage showed prison break from the Pademba Road Prison Sierra Leone Correctional Centre.

The viral video of the escapee prisoners was confirmed by the authorities of the Sierra Leone’s Central Pademba Road Prison.

Stating that the prison have “been breached,” it said that “the inmates set free.”

Another video also shows female prisoners running away after the prison breaks early in the day at the prison in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
