Thy Kingdom Not Come!: Letter To Onicha Ugbo

By Azuka Jebose Molokwi

Dear beautiful indigenes of our great Kingdom,

I greet you.

My people,

Onicha Ugbo Kingdom is in a state of chaos and confusion, thanks, in part, to our King, Obi Victor Chukwumalieze.

Obi Chukwumalieze is destroying our noble and proud heartland. It appears our Royal Highness, Victor Chukwumalieze,  is no longer normal!

A few hours ago, The King suspended, indefinitely, five Palace Chiefs which included two Onotu High Chiefs. The suspended Chiefs are: Festus Mafiana, the Iyase of Onicha Ugbo, Michael Diji, the Isama of Onicha Ugbo, Callistus Ibe Nwawolor, the Chi Obi of Onicha Ugbo and Chief Alibo of Onicha Ugbo

The Obi’s reasons for the indefinite suspension are:

(A): the Chiefs allegedly did not support his fraudulent decision to install “Onotu Chiefs he wanted to appoint, rights that are traditionally abrogated to Ogbes.

(B) The Chiefs were supporting the secession of Umuolo people from Onicha Ugbo. The people of Umuolo, unanimously and collectively chose one of their esteemed sons,  Barrister Henry Omu as their choice for the vacant prestigious Ozah of Umuolo title.

It is my understanding that Obi Chukwumalieze allegedly threatened other Chiefs with indefinite suspension if they did not show up to support him at the court during a court hearing scheduled for December 11.

The Chiefs, including the Onotus, swore, at ordination or Title bestowment, to an oath of allegiance to the King and the people of Onicha Ugbo. They did not swear an oath to the Obi’s criminal act. Unfortunately, this is where we are with the clown of our clan, Obi Victor Chukwumalieze.

My people, bikonu, does the Obi have the unilateral power to appoint or impose an Onotu or High Chief on us? I may be wrong with the knowledge of our traditions, thus, I stand to be educated. This power show nonsense and arrogance has its roots in money and corruption, driven by greed in senility.

But how did we get here and now?:

The late Obi Emenem completed his treasured circles of life on April 28th, 1999. The next morning, April 29th, 1999, Prince  Victor Emenem, in concert with Onicha Ugbo Kingdom’s ancestral tradition, was crowned the King of our beautiful ancient Kingdom. He became His Royal Highness Obi Victor Chukwumalieze.

Sadly, na since then trouble start.

Obi Chukwumalieze has used his prestigious privileged position, power, and privileges to divide our town, turn us against each other, and sell our traditional titles to the highest money bags in and around our town. He has also used the sacred Palace of the people to engage in dubious activities such as murder cover-ups. In case you have forgotten, let me remind you of a few within the past decade. Do you remember Ifechukwude Aninye who was allegedly bludgeoned to death at the Obi’s instructions along a desolate farm road? What happened to that case? Obi Chukwumalieze allegedly spent a few nights in jail, thanks to politicians who pulled a few strings to let him loose.

About four years ago, he audaciously offered the palace as a negotiation center between terrorist Ned Nwoko’s representatives and the Ogogo Blessing family, to “wuruwuru” the death of Ogogo Blessing who was found floating inside the country home swimming pool of terrorist Ned Nwoko, a known best friend of Obi Chukwumalieze. Simultaneously, the death of our beloved town’s waterman, Ugochukwu Nkenchor, allegedly linked to Terrorist Ned Nwoko was also allegedly covered up from the Obi’s palace.

These few examples are how Obi Chukwumalieze abused his traditional staff of office and continues to rogue our dear hometown.

These times, the Odegas are the latest and greatest influencers of our Obi’s treacherous decisions. Because na wa ji Ego!!! New money. New power. New arrogance. We have entered a new season of uncertainties. New money, same ole corrupt errand and arrant King. The Odegas have brazenly shown that they want the Ozah title by every means necessary and a lowdown dirty shameful King is willing to be induced with money and be convinced that he is so powerful, that he could rewrite our centuries-old tradition to benefit him and his new money bags.

Obi Chukwumalieze is destroying the heart foundation of our great homeland and tradition. Onicha Ugbo has become an African Magic movie showing on any  Cable Network Channel. We cannot violently take a front-row seat and watch our great Kingdom disintegrate because of a selfish and greedy King desperately seeking personal fortune. We must unite to collectively and peacefully tell the Obi that enough, is enough. Our traditional values override any financial value. Life is too short to become a silent victim, otherwise, Onicha Ugbo becomes Thy Kingdom, Not Come. May our ancestors and God save us from this latest experience. Jisinuike.  I will write again, soon. Stay with me.
