The U.S. Mission in Nigeria said in a statement via its official X handle that “fighting corruption knows no borders or limits on accountability. Even when high-profile individuals engage in corruption, they can be barred from receiving US Visas.”

In an additional poser titled “Do You Know,” the U.S. Mission said: “Even when high-level individuals engage in corruption, they can be barred from receiving #USVisas. Fighting corruption knows no borders or limits on accountability.”

The U.S. has repeatedly stressed its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s anti-corruption drive and had in the past imposed visa restrictions on politicians accused of undermining democratic processes and engaging in electoral malpractices.
