Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has tackled his former political godfather, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, over what he described as persistent attacks, warning that his silence should not be mistaken for fear.

Governor Yusuf, who is directly confronting the Kwankwasiyya leader for the first time in such strong terms since the duo parted ways earlier this year, told party supporters during the official affirmation of Sulaiman Kawu Sumaila as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senatorial candidate for Kano South in Rano on Monday, said he would soon begin to “talk” if pushed too far.
According to the Governor: “For us, peace in Kano is our priority, but if we are pushed to the wall, we will open our mouths and speak. Silence is not a sign of fear.
“To remain silent is an act of restraint and worship, not because we are afraid or because we are children. How can a 69-yearold man call a 63-year-old man a child? It is simply out of respect because you are slightly older than me.
“However, if an elder does not respect himself and continues talking, the younger one will also have something to say. So, we are pleading with them in the name of Almighty Allah and His Messenger to keep quiet. Otherwise, you will hear many revelations.”
Since Yusuf ’s split from Kwankwaso, the former Governor has accused him of betrayal, claiming he won election on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) only to defect to the APC.
Supporters of both camps have also continued to exchange accusations, particularly on social media.
