President Macron, who said he spoke with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of the ways of expressing solidarity on the situation in Nigeria, also disclosed that he has called on all the partners to step up their engagement with Nigeria as others cannot afford to remain spectators.

According to Macron: “I spoke with President Tinubu of Nigeria, @officialABAT. I conveyed France’s solidarity in the face of the various security challenges, particularly the terrorist threat in the North.

“At his request, we will strengthen our partnership with the authorities and our support for the affected populations. We call on all our partners to step up their engagement. No one can remain a spectator.”

Nigeria has witnessed an upsurge in attacks and killings especially in the Northern region, a situation worsened with the adoption of school children.

In November, bandits abducted at least 200 pupils and teachers from St. Mary’s Catholic School in Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area, Niger State.

Up till now the school children are still in captivity.
