A Derbyshire man who sexually abused a girl for five years – which started when she was 11 years old – has been jailed for a series of offences. Gary Wilson, who was in his late 30s at the time, abused the girl from the age of 11 – for a period of five years.
A Derbyshire Police Spokesperson said: “The girl, now a woman in her late 20s, kept the abuse a secret until her early twenties – when she revealed it to her parents. She then went on to report it to police.
“The 56-year-old was charged and pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image.
“In addition, the 56-year-old was charged with five counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of sexual assault of a child, two counts of inciting a child into sexual activity, and two counts of taking indecent images of a child – all relating to the victim in the case.
“Wilson denied these charges and was sent to trial in October this year. On October 27 he was found guilty of all 11 counts by a jury.
“During a hearing at Lincoln Crown Court on December 15, a judge handed him a seven-year jail term. Wilson was also made the subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
