Sheikh Gumi, Nigeria & The North

By Marvelous Marvels Nnatu

If you knew Sheik Mahmud Gumi, the father of the current terrorist sponsor and financier, Dr. Ahmad Gumi then you wouldn’t worry too much about his offspring.

They were hewn from the same stock.

It was Sheik Mahmud Gumi who declared in Kaduna Central Mosque in the early 90s that “No kaffir will ever be leader of Nigeria in his lifetime”.

I knew him so can write about him.

The man was terror personified and his son doesn’t come close.

He terrorised Christians in the North, sadly unlike today there was no social media to expose his atrocities during his lifetime.

Eventually, his messages ended up producing a lot of Islamic terrorists that terrorised the North.

Sadly, his son Dr. Gumi, another terrorist was among the people who mentored Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the notorious US bound Christmas pant bomber currently serving life sentence in US.

It was Dr. Gumi’s terror connection that earned him a ban from entering Saudi Arabia, yet the same scum is all over Nigeria gallivanting from one terrorist camp to another camp paying terrorists and murderers with Nigeria’s resources.

That’s how bad Nigeria descended into the abyss of uselessness and nothingness.

If you trace the family history of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab then you be very disturbed and concerned.

His father was a former Chairman of First Bank Plc and was once described by the Daily Telegraph of London as “One of Nigeria’s most prominent banker”

Sadly, his son ended up a terrorist.

It wasn’t by error but entirely by design.

Nothing here was done in isolation of the Sokoto Caliphate which is a terrorist organisation.

Terrorism had been a tradition in northern Nigeria amongst its leadership.

I digress.

A friend called me yesterday and said he wanted to ask me just one question about Nigeria.

I told him that I was ready to answer not just one but several questions about Nigeria.

He laughed and threw his banger.

“What if Peter Obi becomes President of Nigeria, would that change your opinion about Nigeria?”

I told him no.

Never.

With or without Obi, Nigeria is sunk.

Nigeria is irredeemable.

One of the things that irks me about seemingly enlightened folks in Nigeria is that most often they ignorantly tend not to or deliberately decided not to pay attention to details.

God asked a question in Amos 3:3

“Can two work together except they agree?”

Herein lies the most fundamental problem with Nigeria.

There are many fundamental problems with Nigeria that can never be wished away.

The North want a Sharia state while the South want a secular state.

The North want to grow through begging while the South want go grow through entrepreneurship.

The North fund Jihad while the South hate Jihadism.

The North embrace terrorists while the South kill terrorists.

The North embrace bad leaders while Igbos loathe bad leaders.

How will Peter Obi change the mindset of a people, who have been active in funding and paying terrorists?

How would he stop Sharia?

How would he stop people who have been living large on resources stolen from the South?

How would he stop the notorious quota system that gave rise to quack military Generals like Buhari and rogue CJF like Justice Tanko Mohammed?

If Peter Obi tries to make things work and put Nigeria on the path of recovery, the North will either conspire to kill him or align their interest with their Ronu brothers in the South that share the same faith to remove him

In any case, Peter Obi has only 8 years to live in Aso Rock.

The North will likely vote a Sheik Gumi or another terrorist to replace him, so what becomes the fate of his policies?

East or West, North or South, whichever way you want to approach Nigerian issues, any reasonable person will eventually come to the conclusion that oil and water can’t blend.

The only way forward is dissolution.

Nigeria is irredeemable.
