A two-year-old girl has allegedly been raped and murdered in North Yorkshire, United Kingdom (UK).

Isabelle Rose Welsh can be named and pictured for the first time after a judge lifted reporting restrictions preventing the publication of her identity.

The toddler died in hospital after Police were called to a property in Thornaby-on-Tees on September 13, 2025 following reports of concern for her welfare.

Josh Welsh, 26, Isabelle’s father, paid tribute to his daughter and said his family was supporting each other through the ordeal.

Alexandra Walker, 25, and Harrison Simpson, 21, appeared in court on Monday September 22, 2025 charged with her murder, with Mr Simpson also accused of raping the child.

The defendants have also been charged with causing or allowing the death of a child.

Mr Welsh told journalists who were present at the candle light vigil: “She meant the world to me .She was full of smiles, full of cuddles, full of joy, full of laughter.

“She loved Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol, as well as toy unicorns. She was interested in loads of things.

“I hope she’s really proud of us remembering her and we did a balloon release yesterday and a candle vigil on Wednesday.

“We’re getting through it as a family together by supporting each other.”

In a joint statement with Cleveland Police, Isabelle’s family asked for privacy as they grieved her death.

Floral tributes were left at Hartington Close in Thornaby and included a note from Mr Welsh that read: “My beautiful baby girl, Daddy loves you all the world.”

Teddy bears, candles, toys and photos of Isabelle were laid alongside the flowers.

Around 200 people attended a candle lit vigil in her memory, while Teesside Vineyard Church in Thornaby also held prayers for the toddler.

The church said: “We will be gathering for a time of prayer and worship between 6pm and 7pm. There will also be space for quiet reflection and to light candles.

“We would love to welcome anyone from our community to join with us.”

Ms Walker and Mr Simpson, both of Hartington Close, were remanded in custody until their next appearance at Teesside Crown Court on November 6, 2025.

The pair are yet to enter pleas in relation to the charges.
