SaharaReporters gathered that a prominent party financier and former Chief of Staff to the ex-Governor of Anambra State, Chief Primus Odili, has confronted the APGA National Chairman, Mr. Sylvester Ezeokenwa over an alleged failed 2027 senatorial ticket deal.

In a message sent directly to the National Chairman, which has since gone viral on social media, Odili, widely known across the South-East as ‘Okeosisi Aguleri.’ itemised the exact sums of foreign currencies and raw naira notes he allegedly paid to purchase the party’s endorsement, demanding an immediate refund.

The leaked transaction breakdown has laid bare the extreme monetisation of internal democracy within political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In the message, Odili told the APGA national leader to keep the luxury gifts, designer clothes, and shoes he bought for him, but insisted on the immediate liquidation of his hard cash.

Odili wrote in the leaked communication, saying, “Please National Chairman, I will appreciate a refund of the underlisted money I gave to you so I can put myself together and move on. I am requesting just the ones listed below. You can keep the rest of the money with the clothes, perfumes and shoes as gifts but the underlisted has to be refunded please.”

The itemised bribery sheet includes $3,000 cash delivered at the National Chairman’s private residence, $2,000 cash delivered at the same venue, $1,000 cash delivered at a Catholic priest, Father Ogbuefi’s house, and an additional $500 cash given at the priest’s home.

The log also features direct bank transfers to anonymous business accounts in the sums of ₦5 million, ₦2 million, and ₦1 million respectively.

Odili further told the APGA boss, writing, “Please send the refund via Ugoo or credit my account directly (Access Bank). I want us to resolve all these amicably so I can move on peacefully. You will eventually get paid in your own coin by your own kind of people. Thanks.”

The leaking of the transaction memo has triggered widespread mockery and deep concern over the commercialisation of legislative seats in Nigeria.

Reacting to the developments on Wednesday, human rights activist and professor of law, Chidi Odinkalu, shared screenshots of the cash logs on his official X handle, mocking the legislative selection process. “…And this is for one @NGRSenate ticket only oh. The best job in #Nigeria!” Odinkalu noted.

A close associate and former classmate of the politician, Chukwuma Okafor, also took to social media to mock how the party leadership allegedly swindled the politician, writing, “Ndi APGA erigo my classmate be that (APGA people have swindled my classmate). Chief Primus even bought clothes, perfumes and shoes for the National Chairman maka (because of) ticket. Just wow!”

Insiders familiar with the operational history of APGA told SaharaReporters that the current financial scandal is part of a systemic pattern of extorting wealthy aspirants in Anambra State.

Odili wielded significant executive power when he served as the Chief of Staff to former Governor Willie Obiano.

His decision to document and leak the dollar transactions indicates a total breakdown of trust within the party’s hierarchy.

Reacting in a comprehensive rebuttal on Wednesday, the APGA National Chairman, Ezeokenwa Sly Jr, fired back at Odili, describing the allegations as malicious blackmail, “ludicrous fabrications,” and “election loss-induced hallucinations.”

Ezeokenwa stated, “The said blackmail posts contain a series of invectives, diatribes, wicked lies, false innuendos, outright falsehood, vile propaganda and ludicrous allegations all aimed at tarnishing my image and the reputation I have laboured to build over the years in APGA.

“I have therefore elected to reply you, not just to set the records straight, but to equally debunk all your outrageous and wicked lies which you have cooked up against me simply because you lost a direct primary election. Your loss is not my making but purely an expression of the free choice of party members in Anambra North.”

The party chairman attacked Odili’s character, challenging the former Chief of Staff to a spiritual duel before the Catholic Church.

“Let me state at the outset that you lack character and any modicum of integrity. Primus Odili, we are both Catholics and I will be right to assume that we both believe in the sacredness of the Blessed Sacrament,” he said.

“I had told you shortly after you started your blackmail that I am willing to go with you before the Archbishop or any priest of your choice to swear before the Blessed Sacrament if I ever demanded any money from you in respect of your aspiration.”

Denying the alleged ticket-selling deal and extortion log, Ezeokenwa noted that the newly enacted Electoral Act 2026 (as amended) makes it legally impossible to manipulate tickets from Abuja.

He said, “It is on record that I never discussed or agreed to give you the ticket of APGA for Anambra North Senatorial District. Indeed, you know I lack such capacity to influence the outcome of a direct primaries.

“It’s on record that the enactment of the Electoral Act in February this year obliterated the indirect mode of primaries leaving just the direct or consensus as the legally recognised modes.”

Addressing the money trail, the APGA chairman denied receiving hundreds of millions of naira, clarifying that the only funds received were minor seasonal gifts and party registration supports, which have already been returned.

“You told some persons that I collected N500 million from you; you still told others that I have received over a billion naira from countless aspirants. All these you know are lies,” he said.

“The private money I received from you was your support for the APGA E-Registration fundraising. Every other money I received from you since 2024 were not more than $1000 which you gave me on 3 occasions; during 2025 Christmas, my birthday in January this year and your Easter gift.

“The money Ugoo sent across to me in an envelope [which has been returned to you] was totally unsolicited. I didn’t discuss or receive any extra dime from you.”

Ezeokenwa also debunked accusations that he accepted a house in Victoria Garden City (VGC), Lagos from Senator Stella Oduah to tilt the primaries in her favor, declaring, “For the records, I never received any building or property from Sen. Oduah in VGC or at any other location.

“I am not building any house in Jabi. These are all lies. Truth is, you don’t even know how childish you sound with all these preposterous, baseless and utterly ludicrous allegations. You’re just pathetic and I may be forced to just ask you to get a life.”
