Policeman, 6 Boko Haram terrorists dead in attack on Babbangida town, Yobe State

The Yobe Command of Nigeria Police on Sunday said that one of its personnel and six Boko Haram terrorists were killed when the terrorists attacked Babbangida town in Tarmuwa Local Government Area of the State.

Spokesman of the State Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Dungus Abdulkarim, said in Yobe State capital, Damaturu, that the six terrorists were shot dead by the Mobile Police Force personnel protecting the area.

According to Abdulkarim, “our Mobile Police personnel held their ground and exchanged gunfire with the terrorists, killing six of them while many others fled with gunshot wounds.

“The terrorists torched a Vigilance group vehicle. They also destroyed part of the (Tarmuwa) Council secretariat, Divisional Police station and a military base before they were repelled.”

He said a policeman was killed and another injured during the gun battle.

The terrorists had attacked Babbangida town on Saturday evening, leading to the destruction of some government assets, causing panic among the residents.
