U.S., Nigeria Meet Over “Free, Peaceful And Fair” 2023 Elections

The United States (U.S.) has restated its support for ” free, peaceful, and fair elections in Nigeria” next year.

Towards this, the Deputy Administrator of United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Isobel Coleman, met with Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, met on Thursday to discuss the U.S. agency’s commitment to Nigeria’s democracy.

According to a statement by USAID Deputy Spokesperson, Shejal Pulivarti, “Deputy Administrator Coleman met with Nigeria Independent National Electoral Commission Chairman Mahmood Yakubu.

“They discussed USAID’s support for free, peaceful, and fair elections in Nigeria.

“Deputy Administrator Coleman praised Nigerian efforts to educate voters and work to eliminate voter intimidation and mis-and dis-information.

“She also reaffirmed the United States’ long-standing support for Nigerian democracy and an accessible, inclusive electoral process.”
