Anambra Moves Against Moneybags in November 6 Governorship Election

With Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announcement of November 6 for Anambra State governorship election, some concerned citizens and groups in the State have begun the process of ensuring that genuine leaders, not moneybags, succeed Governor Willie Obiano.

Obiano leaves office on 17th March 2022.

The group has already shortlisted names that should be marked as Moneybags and whose real antecedents are not linked to any meaningful contributions to the development of the State.

Global Upfront Newspaper (GUN), whose searchlight has beamed on the State since November last year, reports that some concerned individuals who are unhappy about associating the State with money-spraying politics has vowed to discourage this.

Our Correspondent reports that the vogue and notoriety of Anambra State in deployment of money for politics has scared away genuine leaders from coming forward to participate in governance.

GUN learnt that these groups are currently making consultations with top credible leaders of the State with a view to instituting a system that will ensure that only genuine and tested persons emerge in the leading political parties with one of them being the next Governor of Anambra State.

The group said that the State is lucky to have witnessed good governance during the tenure of Governor Peter Obi, pointing out there is precedents already to rely.

“We know the kind of leaders we need to take Anambra State to the next level. Governor Obi has given us a benchmark and we cannot deviate from.”

GUN learnt that the group intends to raise a yardstick that will let Anambrians know who to look out for and who to avoid as the three key political parties – All Progressives Congress (APC), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the People’s a Democratic Party (PDP), roll out their aspirants.
