Nigeria records 48 new COVID-19 infections Monday, lowest since April 20,2020

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has registered 48 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 162,641.

This is the lowest level since April 20,2020 when Nigeria recorded 38 new infections.

Since Nigeria recorded its highest daily new infection of 2,314 cases on January 22, 2021, it has been following a downward trajectory.

The NCDC said via its official Twitter handle that the country’s COVID-19 death toll moved to 2,049 after an additional death on Monday.

Altogether, Nigeria has conducted 1,767,694 sample tests since the index case was announced on February 27, 2020. A total of 40,227 samples tests was conducted in one week.

As of Monday, a total of 150,466 patients have been treated and discharged, with 158 discharged on Monday. The agency said that the country’s active cases stood at 10,363.

The NCDC stated that the 48 new infections were registered across eight States.

It added that Lagos State recorded the highest number with 13, while Kaduna and Nasarawa registered seven each and Kano confirmed six infections.

Amongst others State were Kwara with five cases, Ondo with four, Akwa Ibom and Osun reported three cases each.
