Niger State Commissioner for Information kidnapped by bandits

Alhaji Muhammed Sanni Idris, Niger State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, has been abducted by bandits.

Idris was kidnapped in the early hours of Monday at his country-home of Baban Tunga in Tafa Local Government Area of the State.

Sources said that the bandits, numbering about 15, had invaded his country home and whisked him away.

Secretary to the Niger State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, confirmed the incident.

According to the SSG, the information commissioner was abducted around 1am in his home town.

He, however, said that security operatives have launched trail of the abductors.

“He was kidnapped in the early hours of today around 1am at Baban tunga in Tafa local government. Security are already on the trail of the kidnappers, we hope they would discover him soon and rescue him unharmed,” he said.
