Nigerian Air Force airstrikes, ground troops, foil ISWAP terrorists’ attack on Ngamdu Army’s Super Camp, scores killed

Two Nigerian Air Force (NAF) fighter helicopters on Tuesday led the operation that foiled an Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists’ attack on a military base in Ngamdu, a border town between Yobe and Borno States, Northeast Nigeria.

Sources said that the terrorists had attempted to attack a military base in the area before they were stopped by the troops who had been put  on high alert.

Specifically, the ISWAP fighters were repelled by the NAF helicopters, supported by troops of Super Camp in Ngamdu.

ISWAP had stormed the town in gun trucks and M-RAP, an armored military vehicle designed to withstand the effects of an explosion or armed ambush but were routed and scores were killed.

According to the source, “we actually laid an ambush for them when we learnt from the intelligence of the route they would use. They accessed Ngamdu town via Goniri-Damboa axis in about a dozen vehicles including MRAP and Guntrucks.

“As they approach, our troops swoop on them, from the air and ground, dealing with the terrorists decisively. We are currently clearing their corpses as calmness has since returned to the town.”
