Nigeria: Another Imo State traditional ruler found dead, body found in ditch days after kidnap

  • Eze Paul Ogbu of Ihitte Ihube, Okigwe LGA of Imo State kidnapped on Sunday but body found Wednesday

People of Ihitte Ihube autonomous community in the Okigwe Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo state have been thrown into mourning following the discovery of remains of their abducted traditional ruler, Eze Paul Ogbu.

Eze Ogbu and a youth leader in the community were kidnapped on Sunday after his palace and vehicle were razed.

But his corpse was discovered on Wednesday and it was conveyed to his palace, while burial plans are underway.

Sources confirmed that it was another traditional ruler, Acho Ndukwe, who was kidnapped alongside Ogbu, that disclosed that their kidnappers had killed Eze Ogbu.

Ndukwe was said to have revealed that the kidnappers killed Eze Paul Ogbu in his presence.

Security operatives reportedly went back to the criminals camp with the indigenes and the corpse of the traditional ruler was identified in a ditch.

Ogbu and Ndukwe were kidnapped on Sunday with their vehicles and palaces razed.

Ndukwe was rescued on Monday after security operatives raided the criminal den in Orsu LGA of Imo State and Uli, Ihiala LGA of Anambra state.

An Imo traditional ruler, who was abducted last week, was found dead days after the kidnap.

The corpse of Edwin Azike, traditional ruler of Atta community in Njaba Local Government Area of Imo, was dumped in the market square after he was killed.
