Nigeria records 5 COVID-19 deaths, 814 new cases on Friday

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said Nigeria recorded five COVID-19 deaths and 814 new cases on Friday, .

The figures brought the COVID-19 death toll to 3,070 and the total confirmed cases to 247,009. Out of the total confirmed cases, 217,832 have been treated and discharged while over 26,000 are still down with the virus.

The new 814 cases were recorded in 16 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with Lagos State logging the highest number of infections with 310, followed by Rivers with 126 and Taraba, 76 cases.

NCDC also explained 76 confirmed cases reported for Taraba state are backlogs for 21st (6), 24th (5), 29th (36), 30th (12) December 2021, 2nd (7) & 4th (10) January 2022.

Similarly, 27 confirmed cases reported for Kaduna state are for 6th January 2022

Breakdown of cases for Friday 7 January include Lagos-310, Rivers-126, Taraba-76, FCT-74, Ondo-68, Gombe-35, Kaduna-27, Oyo-20, Delta-17, Kwara-12, Ekiti-11, Bauchi-9, Edo-8, Kano-8, Nasarawa-7, Ogun-4 and Bayelsa-2.
