Bandits Invade Edo State Farm, Kill Staff, Burn Down 20-hectare Rubber Plantation, Company Shuts Down

Bandits have invaded the Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc, killing a staff and setting on fire the company’s over 20-hectare rubber plantation in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State, Niger Delta region of Nigeria.

The company’s Spokesperson, Mr Fidelis Oliseh, told journalists that the bandits stormed the plantation on Tuesday with AK-47 rifles and shot at one of their workers while he was trying to protect the company’s equipment.

Oliseh said that after burning the excavators on the farm, the terrorising bandits proceeded to the rubber plantation which was close by and also set it on fire.

He said that because of the killing and destruction, the company had shut down production, adding that it is currently working with security agencies on the attack.

Meanwhile, the Edo State Police Spokesperson, SP Bello Kontongs, said the Command had not been briefed about the development.
