Avoid Name Calling, Personal Attacks On Other Presidential Candidates, Peter Obi Pleads With Supporters

  • Says “elections are a democratic contest and need not be adversarial”

Former Governor of Anambra State and leading Presidential candidate in the 2023 elections under the Labour Party banner, Mr Peter Obi, on Sunday morning pleaded with his supporters to cease all personal attacks on other aspirants and candidates in the run-up to the 2023 Presidential elections.

Obi said in a tweet under his verified handle, @PeterObi, asked his supporters to note that the whole goal of his candidacy is “to make Nigeria better.”

He therefore counseled them to note that “elections are a democratic contest and need not be adversarial.”

The full tweet reads: “Whilst thanking you for your support, which I sincerely value and appreciate, I humbly appeal that we all imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship and avoid name-calling or personal attacks on other aspirants and candidates.

“It has been brought to my attention, and I have also observed that some of my numerous supporters are making personal attacks on other aspirants/candidates.

“The common goal is to make Nigeria better. Elections are a democratic contest and need not be adversarial. -PO.”
