Navy Commander Bencharles Anioke (rtd), an officer of the Nigerian Navy Department of Information, is dead.
Commander Anioke reportedly died yesterday (Sunday).
His death was confirmed in a statement by the Executive Secretary/Board of Trustees of Military, Police and Paramilitary Public Relations Officers Forum (MILPOPPROF), Dr. Igwe Hosea Chibueze.”
According to the statement: “It is with heavy hearts that we regret to announce the passing away of one of us – Navy Commander Bencharles Anioke rtd, Mnipr
“The recently retired senior officer served several commands of the Nigerian Navy as Command Information Officer (CINFO) including NAVTRAC, Western Naval Command, Eastern Naval Command, NAFRC Oshodi, Armed Forces Radio Abuja and Defence Information HQs.
“Cdr Anioke is a good-spirited fellow, amiable, team player.
“He assisted greatly during the formative years of our Military, Police and Paramilitary Public Relations Officers Forum (MILPOPPROF) from 2006. He was the first to donate personal N10,000 to the forum for the provision of writing and printing materials and later wrote to plead with his boss the then Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command Rear Admiral OS Ibrahim to pay an agreed levy of N50,000 to support the laudable initiative of the Forum. He was never missing in any of the monthly meetings of the Forum.
“Cdr Anioke was present during NIPR AGM/Conference 2023 in NAF conference centre Abuja and as usual exchanged warm jokes with all of us.
“On behalf of the BoT, founding members and facilitators of this Forum, we condole with his beloved wife and children including friends and coursemates.
“We will surely miss his association and wonderful contributions to this forum.
“Till we meet to part no more!
