………Bauchi state Governor Self isolates after meeting Atiku’s Son

Palpable fear has gripped residents of the nation’s capital Abuja as the dreaded virus COVID-19 is steadily and speedily making inroad into the city.

Global Upfront News gathered that as at Monday, Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital, where patients of the Coronavirus patients are kept have recorded more entry with a lot more lined up.

Early Monday announcement by the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar that his unnamed son has contracted the virus helped to heighten the tension especially as the boy was said to have moved round places including shops and clubs as well Mosques before his discovery and isolation.

GUN gathered that the boy allegedly disregarded the advisory by the government to self isolate having returned from Europe and went about enjoying himself.

He was in the Mosque for Friday Jummat where he freely mixed up with other faithfuls. He was also known to have gone clubbing with his wife and other friends and also visited some notable social places in Wuse and Maitama areas of Abuja.

 His wife has been forced to isolate herself along with their households while operatives are in search of others identified to have had contact with him.

A visibly panic-stricken friends and and immediate family members have been running helper-skelter since the weekend the news broke that he has tested positive to the various.

GUN gathered that the harm would have been less if he had heed the advice of the relevant agencies to self isolate. 

A health official told GUN in Abuja on Monday that one man who go socializing while carrying the virus can spread it to thousands of people within a very short period.

Our source said that the former Vice President’s son was literarily forced into isolation before being taken to hospital after the result showed positive.

Meanwhile the Governor of Bauchi state, Alhaji Bala Mohammed has self isolated himself having been among the hundreds that made contact with the son of the former Vice President.

A statement from the office of the Bauchi state Governor  signed by his media aide Murktar Gidado confirmed that the Governor met and had a handshake with Atiku’s son. The statement also said that while the Governor is yet to feel any symptom of the virus, he does not want to take anything for granted as his blood sample has been taken for testing.
