Edo Polls: Panic in Obaseki camp as Oshiohmole men line up behind Ize-Iyamu

..They are insensitive to our people’s COVID-19 plight – Obaseki man

The intensity of the battle for the ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the September 19, 2020 governorship poll in Edo State manifested on Wednesday as choice candidate of the National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiohmole, Pastor Ize-Iyamu braced the COVID-19 brouhaha to set up his campaign structures.

Loyalists of the APC National Chairman dominated the 13-directorate campaign structure announced by the fiery politician and Pastor who has been very visible in Edo Gubernatorial race for years but in various political platforms.

Pastor Iyamu, who was the gubernatorial flag bearer of the Peoples a Democratic Party (PDP) in 2016 left the party recently to join Comrade Oshiohmole camp of APC on the promise of picking the ticket held by Governor Godwin Obaseki who defeated him in 2016.

Global Upfront News (GUN) had reported exclusively during the week that Governor Obaseki’s hope of picking the ticket was still hanging in the balance.

The GUN had noted that the hope of Governor Obaseki to win the battle going through his colleague APC Governors to arm twist the National Chairman to agree to his second term ticket may not be working after all.

Global Upfront News learnt from close associates of Comrade Oshiohmole that something deeper is in offing that will sweep the Governor off.

Less than 24 hours after the publication, Pastor Iyamu rolled out a powerful campaign train with 13 directors all comprising Comrade Oshiohmole’s henchmen

They include Charity Amanyaevbo, Director of Mobilisation; Kehinde Garrick, Director of Special Duties; Gideon Obhakhan, Director of Research; Almed Momoh, Director of Welfare; Tom Eshemogie, Director of Administrations; Frank Erewele, Director of Logistics and Abu Momodu, Director of Finance.

Other are Jubrin Mariam, Director of Women Mobilisation; Pius Alile, Director of Strategy; Victor Ojo, Di- rector of Security; Johnson Iyamu, Director of Youth Mobilisation; Mike Igaga, Director of NGOs and John Mayaki, Director of Com- munication and Media.

But when GUN reached Governor Obaseki’s camp, a voice who preferred not to be mentioned because his camp was observing the lockdown directive, said they saw it coming as the agenda of Comrade Oshiohmole but insisted that they will be disgraced by Edo people and God.

“Our concern now is for Edo people to survive the COVID-19 scourge before we talk of election. They are insensitive to the situation on ground of announcing campaign team when the entire country including the state is on a lockdown, he said.
