This is just as reports has revealed that the British Prime Minister is okay and does not need a ventilator to breathe.
A ventilator takes over the body’s breathing process when the disease has caused the lung to fail
The development is coming after, cabinet office minister, Michael Gove became the latest British politician to self-isolate after his family members showed symptoms of the scourge.
A spokesman from the office of the PM said the Prime Minister was “in good spirits” after spending the night in intensive care being treated for Coronavirus.
Prime Minister Johnson was admitted to St. Thomas Hospital in Central London with persistent symptoms of COVID-19 on Sunday and was moved to intensive care on Monday after his symptoms worsened.
Gove on the other hand insisted that he did not have symptoms and would be working from home
In a statement on Tuesday, a Downing Street spokesman said: “The Prime Minister has been stable overnight and remains in good spirits. He is receiving standard oxygen treatment and is breathing without any other assistance. He has not required mechanical ventilation or non-invasive respiratory support” Downing street said
It also added that Mr Johnson does not have pneumonia.
Dr Jon Bennett, President of the British Thoracic Society, said it was “heartening” the PM was receiving “standard oxygen treatment” – through his nose or via a face mask – because in more serious cases it would be delivered through mechanical support, such as continuous positive airway pressure, high flow nasal oxygen or more invasive ventilators.
The Spokesperson said that the mood in government is “determined”, and ministers have a very clear plan set out by Mr Johnson for responding to the pandemic.
The Prime Minister’s weekly audience with the Queen will not go ahead, although she will be kept regularly informed about his condition, the Spokesperson added.
Meanwhile, President Buhari, according to the statement by his Spokesperson, Malam Garba Shehu, said: “On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari wishes Prime Minister Boris Johnson a quick recovery and restoration to full health.
“President Buhari’s sympathy and solidarity are with the British leader as he battles COVID-19 personally, and with the British people as their country battles the devastating effects of the pandemic.
“President Buhari prays that Prime Minister Johnson will soon be well enough to resume his great leadership of his country at this most trying time in global history.”
