Buharri loses another aide

Less than 72 hours after the burial of his Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari, who died of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) in Lagos, President Muhammadu Buhari has lost another aide.

This time, Warrant Officer Lawal Mato, one of the longtime military personal bodyguards who worked with the President years before he won the 2015 elections died on Tuesday as a result of the complications of diabetes.

The Warrant Officer had been off duty for three years and has been treating diabetes before his death.

A statement by Presidential Spokesperson, Malam Garba Shehu, quoted President Buhari as describing the late Warrant Officer as a very thorough trustworthy and dependable soldier who carried out his duty with diligence and focus.

According to the statement, “President Buhari prayed that Allah will ease his passage to paradise and grant his family, government and people of Jigawa State, the fortitude to bear the loss.”
