Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, say that the State will start implementing the compulsory wearing of face masks as from next week.

The Governor said on Monday that the measures was to protect residents against the rampaging Coronavirus (COVID-19).

He said that in order to assist the residents in the procurement, about a million locally-made face mask contracted to tailors in the State are to be distributed during next week.

Sanwo-Olu said that the locally-made ones will be sufficient and adequate and called on the residents to ignore the medical-grade face masks used by health workers.

According to him, “from next week, we are going to ask that face masks be compulsorily worn in public places. This is part of the deliberation we have had yo go through extensively today. We have commissioned more than one million face masks to be distributed in the State.”

The Governor also warned that Lagos will prosecute patients who lie about their travel history to health workers.
