Boko Haram kill 2 policemen, one army officer as they attack ex-Borno Gov Alli Modu Sheriff’s convoy

Former Governor of Borno state, Ali Modu Sheriff often accused of founding the Boko Haram Islamic militant group has tasted the anger of the group as five persons in his were killed by the insurgents when the attacked the former Governor’s convoy.

Reports had it that the terrorists attacked Sheriff’s convoy, of nine exotic vehicles, at Auno Town in Konduga Local Government Area, along the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway.

Sheriff who was on the convoy was said to be travelling to Maiduguri from Abuja on Thursday evening to take part in the third day post-burial prayer for his father,  Galadiman Dikwa, Modu Sheriff, who died last week.

The convoy was trailed and engaged by the insurgents around 6:30 pm and during the crossfire, two police officers, two civilians and a soldier were killed.

One of the nine vehicles was damaged at Auno but the convoy was rescued by a team of the Rapid Response Squad who successfully pushed back the terrorists.

The former governor has consistently denied founding and funding the Boko Haram group during his tenure as Borno State governor.
