Amidst lockdown harships, Multichoice hike prices of DSTV products

At a time the Federal Government is asking service providers to help Nigerians cushion effects of the Stay-At-Home order that has become necessary because of the Coronavirus pandemic, Multichoice has hiked the cost of their cable television products.

In a notice issued to their dealers this evening, the South African company said the upward change in prices affects both the DSTV and GoTV products. The notice was signed by Mr. Martin Mabutho, Chief Customer Officer.

According to Martin Mabutho, henceforth, the DSTV Explora which used to cost N46,500 will henceforth cost N54,500 with COMPACT subscription while Zappa, their regular decoder will now cost N17,500 with COMPACT subscription, up from the previous N12,800.

The terrestrial service, GoTV which used to cost N8,100 with antenna and GoMAX subscription, will now cost N9,100.

The company also announced other range of prices for their other products and services, adding that the changes take immediate effect.

The notice did not say why the company had to carry out the increase in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic that has forced Nigerians to isolate in their homes, with their television sets as major entertainment and means of information.
