Mazi (Dr.) Nkemka Jombo-Ofo, the Commissioner representing the South East in the Police Service Commission is dead.
A statement by Nzuko Arochukwu, a group of Aro descendants, expressed “deep shock” at the death, describing him as “a pillar in Arochukwu, South-east and Nigeria.”
Dr Jombo-ofo was, amongst others, a former President, Enugu State Chamber of Commerce; member of the Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC) Board; member of the Board of Directors of University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital; member, Nigeria Medical Association; member, Post Graduate Public Relations Association, Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants.
According to Nzuko Arochukwu, Dr Jombo-ofo’s “love for Aro was exemplary. Oshimiri (as he was popularly called) was a leading member of the immediate past Okpankpo Aro, President of Okennachi, and a holder of the prestigious title of Ugwu Aro.
“Dr Jombo-ofo was cerebral, pragmatic, visionary and courageous. Aro has lost a strategist and tactician, mobiliser and organizer..”
He is survived by his wife, Honourable Justice (Mrs) Ifeoma Jombo-ofo of the Court of Appeal and children.
