Military kills 20 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists as it repels attack on Monguno, Northeast Nigeria

The Nigerian Armed Forces on Sunday said that 20 Boko Haram /Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists were killed on Saturday as troops “successfully” repelled attack on Monguno town, Northeast region State of Borno.

Coordinator, Defence Media Operations (DMO), Major General John Enenche, said on Sunday in a statement that the counter attack was led by ground troops of Sector 3 and Air Task Force Operation Lafiya Dole.

General Enenche said “during the combined brave Sector 3 counter attack and precise ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) and munition delivery by the Air Task Force, 20 Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters were neutralized and 4 of their gun trucks destroyed. The troops also captured some of the terrorists and their equipment.”

Meanwhile, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai has commended officers and men of the Army Super Camp, Monguno for their resilience and bravery in holding and dealing with the members of the BHT/ISWAP group that attacked Monguno town on Saturday.
