The National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) began at the Presidential Villa, Abuja with the dissolution of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.
Yobe Governor, Mai-Mala Buni, who was the party’s National Secretary before he resigned to contest for Governor, was named Chairman Caretaker/Extra-ordinary Convention Committee.
Acting National Chairman of the party, Mr Victor Giadom, announced the dissolution of the NWC and appointment of Mr Buni at the NEC meeting. The Governor was immediately sworn in by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.
President Muhammadu Buhari is hosting the NEC which has in attendance Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila and 15 State Governors including Governors of Nasarawa, Niger, Jigawa, Yobe, Plateau, Kogi, Imo, Gombe, Osun, Ogun, Lagos, Kwara, Ekiti, Kano and Kebbi.
Others in attendance are National Deputy Chairman, Lawal Shuaibu, Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Idris Wase, House Majority Leader, Hassan Dogowa and the Deputy Chief Whip, House of Representatives, Nnenna Ukeje.
